Control of secretion in neurons and neuronendocrine cells

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

Biophysical and biochemical methods were used to study exocytosis and secretion by neurons and neuroendocrine cells at the level of living, single cells. Patch clamp and conventional microelectrode recording were used to study the activity of calcium channels controlling the release of neurotransmitter. The cytosolic changes in calcium (2+) concentrations accompanying neuronal excitation were measured by microfluorimetry. Electrophysiologic recording from the postsynaptic cell, and electrochemical recording with carbon microfibres reported the release of neurotransmitter. Biochemical measurements on a latrotoxin-like protein were aimed at elucidating the mechanism of membrane fusion.
