We propose to develop reliable high-brightness 732 nm and 975 nm laser diodes and optical modules ensuring high efficiency coupling from a bar into a small diameter fibre. The problem to solve is to increase power and brightness of laser sources used in Wavelength Division Multiplexed networks and Photodynamic Therapy, an advanced cancer treatment. The main aims are to couple 10 W at 975 nm into 100 ?m diam. fibre and 4 W at 732 nm into 400 ?m diam. fibre, to produce 20 W bars of 975 nm high brightness taper lasers (HBTL) and to produce single emitter HBTL at 975 nm and 732 nm to be achieved by expert partners in modeling, material growth, laser processing, packaging, optical system implementation. Expected results are a new 30 dBm optical amplifier and a dual wavelength laser for a new cancer therapy.
