The proposal aims at promoting the dissemination and transfer of the technology developed at 11 European IST activities funded under the EUTIST-M IST-1999-20226 initiative. These activities have been clustered and results are being achieved successfully. The proposal aims at maximising the synergies among the activities and providing them with experience, assessment and means for performing Europeanwide dissemination of the advanced information technologies developed in the activities, aiming at transferring this technology to the medical sector. The dissemination will be performed by means of press campaign, demonstration events and participation to major industrial exhibitions. Marketing assessment will be provided to maximise the outcome of the dissemination campaign. Technology transfer will be assisted by the definition and follow-on of Technology Implementation Plans.
OBJECTIVES
The European Take-up of Essential Society Technologies in Medicine (EUTIST-M) cluster of projects was approved for funding under the IV.2.2 Action line and started on 1/11/2000.The objective of this proposal is to coordinate and to foster the promotion, dissemination and transfer of information society technologies in the field of the medical applications. The activities within EUTIST-M cluster will end up with ten prototypes and one best practice, along with electronic-based dissemination actions, which are adequate for a moderate awareness creation in the medical community but insufficient for technology transfer. This proposal will provide the means and assistance for dissemination actions in the form of preparation of industrial-oriented material, organisation of events for demonstration, press campaigns and assessments of the technology. Last but not least, the proposal aims at fostering European-wide technology transfer.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The dissemination strategy will be based on the experience obtained in the past HPCN-TTN network, but with the aim of going one step beyond on technology transfer. In this network, 21 Technology Transfer Nodes (the 3 principal contractors of the TT@MED proposal among them), participated for the dissemination and technology transfer of more than 167 projects, with a total funding of 44.914 KEuro and a total participation of 630 organisations (273 of them SMEs). As a result of this, 59 new and 47 enhanced products, 22 new and 20 enhanced services, 15 new companies and 128 examples of technology transfer with European Dimension were obtained. The 3 partners of the proposal performed joint actions with all of the technology transfer nodes (14 different European countries). The work to be done during the project comprises 4 main stages:-Project Co-ordination, including the management of the project and the compilation and preparation of reports and deliverables; the organisation of review meetings; the preparation of the final report; and the contractual and financial management.-Network Liaison activities, in the frame of fostering the exchange of information, and aiming at providing a common strategy and a corporative image that gives an added value to the work.-Dissemination activities. This constitutes one of the two pillars of the work, and covers the preparation of industrial-oriented dissemination material, revised by experts on the subject. The implementation of a press campaign, and the development of a demonstration campaign to show the results of the projects.-Technology Transfer. The objective of the dissemination is to transfer the technology developed to the medical industry. Special attention will be paid to the actions following dissemination. Transnational consortia will be fostered for the take-up of the technology in the form of licenses or new projects (specially private-funded ones).
