Technologies for software and systems in the Financial Services / Banking sector. Sate-of-the-Art and Future Trends

Ziel

The main objective of the Fin-Tech project is to facilitate forward-looking research on technologies for software and systems in the Financial services area with a specific focus in the Banking, Brokerage, and Asset management sectors. The proposed project is a Study aimed at identifying open problems for further research and deriving an R&D roadmap, establishing a shared vision and supporting the correct adoption of enabling technologies supporting robustness, scalability and versatility of systems for the Financial services/ Banking sector though the systematic exchange of information among business experts, technology providers and academics.

Project progress will be assessed and results (supported and validated by user feedback) will be suitably ""packaged"" for dissemination in wider Financial services / Banking, ICT and Academic communities. OBJECTIVES
Technology is key for the Financial services/Banking industry evolution especially in terms of systems integration, security & dependability (availability, reliability, maintainability, survivability) in an environment highly reliant on complex legacy, often disparate systems.

The project will bring together technologists & business experts so as to study the state-of-the-art of technologies supporting composability & dynamic adaptability, open software architectures/standards, review & present emerging ones, promote their adoption in the Financial services/Banking industry, record trends to prepare stakeholders to face future business/technological changes & eventually prepare a Research roadmap for future work in the areas of composability & dynamic adaptability focusing on service engineering & related technologies (agents, peer-to-peer technologies).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The workplan is deployed to ensure co-ordination of activities to develop a communication forum enabling interaction within the industry, set up working groups to evaluate current practices & requirements stemming from the industry; assess state-of-the-art in technologies for composability & dynamic adaptability of software & systems; review emerging ones; maintain users involved throughout the project, assess project progress & results; disseminate findings across Europe through workshops & events.

The workplan is organised around 6 Workpackages:
WP1-Current practices & industry needs will identify current practices, collect the Financial services/Banking Industry requirements for technologies supporting composability&dynamic adaptability focusing on service engineering&related technologies (agents, peer-to-peer technologies) & their applications & open software architectures/standards.
WP2-Technology Review, State-of-the-art will assess trends in practiced technologies & identify emerging technologies relevant to the Financial services/Banking Industry.
WP3-Study, will identify priorities & gaps in terms of R&D & conduct a feasibility study for final selection of R&D areas to be considered.
WP4-Roadmap definition will analyse & consolidate findings from previous work-packages, leading to the formulation of a Research roadmap providing a development strategy, a schedule of tasks & budgeted expenses.
WP5-Dissemination will exploit results, disseminate ideas, facts, results to the industry, while gathering business needs & requirements. Special attention will be paid to clustering activities with other European projects dealing with similar matters to widen the scope and the audience of the action.
WP6-Project Management will monitor & co-ordinate project activities & ensure conformance with the Project & Quality plan and assess project progress & results.
