Global environmental problems cannot be addressed through unilateral environmental policy. This is particularly true with respect to dealing with the externalities of greenhouse gas production and global climate change. The aim of this project was to build an integrated econometric model of Europe as a whole, for each member country and the global economy, to provide information which can help address this problem. This modelling tool will reproduce the main linkages between the economy, energy and the environment in order to simulate future situations and obtain a description of the behaviour of the economy in response to various policy options. This project solves the theoretical and econometric problems encountered in the development and applications of models which link economic and environmental parameters.
