Solar house - Postdamer Platz Berlin: an integrated approach for three European "Demonstration buildings"

Objective



During the early design stage, state of the art computer modelling techniques will be applied against the key environmental criteria to evaluate the optimum thermal, visual and aura environment whilst achieving the minimum life cycle energy usage. Solar systems will be integrated and evaluated against these criteria? The software to be used on the project includes the following : Dynamic Thermal Modelling The software capable of modelling thermal processes in buildings in three dimensions (3D) and in time domain. Fundamental mechanisms of heat transfer in buildings covered include convection, conduction and long-wave and short-wave radiation.
TAS Suite TAS is a dynamic thermal modelling suite utilising the response factor method. The programme has been in use for over 10 years during which time it has undergone several validation exercises and modifications.

TAS can also simulate a range of building heating and air conditioning systems.
