Ziel
To develop and validate software to study the behaviour of radiative enclosures, in particular those involving infra-red gas emitters in drying processes.
Radiative heat transfer is becoming increasingly important in a number of processes as the change is made from low efficiency heating to those involving radiation, for example infra-red treatments.
There are to be tackled, involving surfaces non-participating media, surfaces in absorbing media and those in scattering media. Different methods were compared, e.g. the zone method and the ray-tracing method. Validation was performed with the aid of data collected from an infra-red gas-emitter used in paper drying.
Surveys were carried out to ensure that the model is adapted to the most frequently occuring industrial situations.
