Prototype reference standard slides for qualitative cytometry of nuclear DNA content (The Press Project)

The project was concerned with the development of Prototype Reference Standard Slides for quantitative cytometry of nuclear DNA content. In total, 5 activities (objectives) were proposed - Prototype Reference Slides - Specifications/Guidelines - Software implementation - Validation and Evaluation - Certification The first four objectives were achieved but the final objective was not fully completed due to a lack of resources and time. The main aim of the final objective was for each participant (19 in total) to run the prototype slides on their own instruments, returning the results to the co-ordinator. However, only 13 out of the 19 participants throughout Europe agreed to sign the contract for this activity. Of these 13, 2 laboratories did not provide the results of the tests. A further research project has been proposed, whose aim is to improve the accuracy of ploidy measurements between ICM-DNA users in Europe by means of cooperation through the use of telematics, promoting normalization, quality control and quality assurance procedures.
