CAPABILITIES REGISTRATION, EVALUATION, DIAGNOSIS & ADVICE THROUGH INTERNET TECHNOLOGY

Exploitable results

The CREDIT project has developed four prototype tools, which are the following: 1) Skills/matching tool: The skills/matching tool allows the user to select bits and pieces from one domain or even across domains and thus to create a personal skill set. An individual may be interested in being assessed against the personal skill set, or to perform a quick self-check on whether he or she thinks to possess all the knowledge and skills described by the personal skill set. A human resource manager within a company may use a selected skill set to describe a new job to be performed in the company. With this description, it can then be investigated whether the current staffs possess the skills required, or whether further training is desirable. 2) Assessment/evidence tool: Allows the user to build a portfolio that contains evidence for the skills and knowledge required for that skill set. They may choose either the subjective self-assessment route, marking the different items as known, not known, or undecided, or the user may choose the more official, objective route where the evidence selected in the portfolio is judged by an external assessor. 3) Advisory tool: The assessment may have identified skill gaps. Some of the skills are evidently not mastered yet. The system takes the skill gaps and provides the user with alternative sequences in which these skills can be acquired through further training. 4) Knowledge tool: Clicking on one of the sequences provided by the system, the user receives information on existing courses and learning materials that relate to this particular sequence. The user may, for example be referred to a local training centre, to a distance learning course, or to learning resources available on the Internet. Currently tools are being implemented with the new interface and some of the enhanced functionalities include: -A generic metadata template to guide domain decomposition, thus allowing domains other than the original target domains to be incorporated. -A means to compare different qualification structures in different countries including keyword search. -A multilingual environment that supports the tasks of human resource managers, advisors and assessors, and candidates. -A quick means to check one's own knowledge and skills through on-line, self-assessment and training needs. -Identification of learning routes and automatic linkage to training content from the library of available materials. -Exploitation opportunities for Partner solutions, Tailored systems and Public services.
