Ziel
Windows are tested for mechanical resistance, air tightness and water tightness.
There is a CEN standard which described three methods. The preferred method is only used in two countries. In Germany, the laboratory of Rosenheim which had initially developed the method has now abandoned it because the stability of the nozzles is apparently creating too many problems.
The other CEN methods are not used as described. In France, in particular, the water spray is not directed perpendicular to the window because too many windows are considered to be bad, but it is inclined 45 degrees downwards.
The project will consist of an intercomparison in which two windows of different design will be tested for water tightness by the participants.
