Manual of sclerochronology in fishes

The objective of this project is to propose a practical and didactic book presenting a methodological and technical synthesis on fish age and growth estimation from hard tissues (Sclerochronology). This work is addressed to a broad international public of researchers and laboratory, assistants, as well as to teachers and students. Its aim is to fill the current lack, in the international literature, of a synthetic work on a research field in constant evolution.

The association of an interactive CD-Rom will provide to the paper version a full educational dimension, by supplementing the handbook with interactive graphics and-video animations, essential to the training of such a process primarily based on visual perception. Moreover, the use of these new multimedia technologies will facilitate the access of developing countries to the comprehension and the use of these methods.
