Obiettivo
Space geodesy can provide valuable information regarding the neo-tectonic deformations of the earth's outer shell, an understanding of which is crucial both for the study and prediction of earthquakes and for the exploration and exploitation of natural resources. It is proposed to study this phenomenon by measuring surface deformations in one the most rapidly deforming regions in the world (Central Greece). A network of geodetic points will be established and their periodical relative positions monitored using the Global Positionning system (GPS) of navigation satellites.
