Exploitable results

This project deals with the impact of the EU Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) on National Legislation in 3 Member States (D, S and UK) & implications for citizens, public services & private business, for lawyers, telematics developers & users in public & private organisations. A CD-ROM (the "DAPRO Information System") including an information database with searching and retrieving facilities, and containing extended legal data and detailed references on the practical application of the data protection laws in the UK, Germany and Sweden, will be commercialised in 1999 with an estimated client base of over 10,000 customers.
The manufacturing execution systems presently in use in the semiconductor industry do not fully satisfy this industry's requirements. CIM Frameworks might bring the solution. A framework specification consists of a common reference model, and a set of common services, including a communication infrastructure. The EUROFRAME initiative, launched by major European semiconductor manufacturers, has built an implementation of a CIM Framework suiting the needs of the more diversified European manufacturers. The framework (set of business objects for IC industry) has been realised and two prototypes have been developed : - Document Management System - KPI reporting tool (for Frontend and Backend operations) The partners have shared a set of rules and tools allowing them to run their manufacturing operations with a new level of efficiency, and to be ready for the integration of new solutions. The whole community, users and suppliers, profit from the results. As it becomes possible to build upon good concepts and systems, the solutions can be successively improved. CIM Frameworks mean efficiency increases and costs are cut.
