DEVELOPMENT OF OPTIMAL TECHNOLOGICAL PROCED FOR THE RECORDING, PROCESS AND INTERPRETATION OF SEISMIC TRANSVERSE WAVES

Obiettivo

To study the combined use of P and S waves as a tool to overcome the difficulties related to search for complex hydrocarbons traps different than the simple anticline.
15 km of seismic survey have been shot for "P" and "S" wave recordings. "P" waves were recorded in conventional way hence "S" waves with detonating "S" wave recordings encountered difficulties due to soil humidity. Data have been processed and interpreted. Results although encouraging are not completely satisfying due to lack of mathematical processing.
The project studied on a real site, the use of transverse waves for collecting appreciable amounts of information. To this effect, the PO basin which was well studied, stratigraphically and lithologically, appeared to be an interesting geological province with the possibility to extend later the results to sedimentary basins in other European countries.
Field experimentation (19 km of "S" waves survey), processing and interpretation were the main phases of the programme.
