UNMANNED OFFSHORE PRODUCTION PLATFORM [PHASE 3]

Ziel

The aim of PLATINE project is to specify a central production platform, unmanned, teleoperated from a control room located onshore, with a limited numbre of visits for inspection and overhauling. The intermediate aims consist in working out and testing pilot units related to sub-systems and testing new equipment.
The project has been divided into 4 phases : PLATINE - Phase I (1986-88); PLATINE - Phase II (1987-89); PLATINE - Phase III (1988-91) and PLATINE - Phase IV (1989-92).
The present project deals with Phase III.
a) Water injection
Catalytic deoxygenation process is still far from an industrial state. But non-corrodible chain is a promising solution, needing some additional material testing.
b) Gas-lift
Successful test of the gas-lift start-up pilot in Gabon for two years.
Gas-lift optimization pilot has been developed; on site test are performed in Gabon in 1992.
c) Well pumping
Further to on-site tests, a Platine long stroke pumping unit has been designed and specified.
d) Condition based maintenance
After the pre-study of an "on-line" general condition based maintenance system, the development of a pilot has been abandoned; such development needs very advanced knowledge in mechanic vibration analysis, not yet mastered by petroleum operators.
e) Desalination monitoring by on-line expert system
An off-line expert system related to diagnostic and control of crude oil desalting facilities has been developed, tested on site and validated by several production experts. A pilot on-line expertsystem has been developed and will be tested later in connection with Scooter oil.
f) Bottomhole optical sensor
In cooperation with AGIP, prototypes of the patented pressure and temperature sensor have been manufactured and have been tested. A pilot, including surface unit, optical cable, connector and sensor is planned to be installed in a well end of 1992.
g) New technology rotating machines
Two pumps pilots, with self-acting lubricators of bearings are running for 8000 hours at end 1991, in Cameroun and Angola.
A armed pump with submerged rotor is manufactured for a pilot installation in Cameroun mid 1992.
Two pumps with silicon carbide bearings, lubricated by pumped liquid (water and crude oil), will be installed in Angola and Gabon in 1992.
h) Well safety electronic control
Pilot installed in Gabon late 1989 is running satisfactorily.
The project aims at progressively integrating the results of studies performed in PLATINE Phase 1 and Phase II projects. The facilities have been divided into 7 main sub-systems : 4 production sub-systems (gas-lift, sea water injection, separation-treatment, well pumping) and 3 sub-systems non specific to oil industry (energy/rotating machinery, safety/reliability, automation systems). Eight pilots are related to these sub-systems, or part of them, with the following program :
a) Water injection
Further to tests of prototypes related to specific processes (chlorination, filtration, deoxygenation, filtration quality) carried out in PLATINE Phase II project, study of a sub-system pilot.
b) Gas-Lift
Realisation of two pilots installed on site and tested, one being related to automatic start-up (in case of unique injection point gas-lift) and the other related to optimization of gas lift injection.
c) Well pumping
Design of a long stroke pumping unit pilot.
d) Condition based maintenance
Realisation of a pilot will on a gas compressor set (compressor and drive); incorporating a vibration acquisition system. e) Desalination monitoring by on-line expert system
Construction of a pilot, including instrumentation, on-line expert system and connection interface to a digital control monitoring system, to be installed on site and tested.
f) Bottomhole optical sensor
Manufacturing of a permanent bottomhole optical pressure and temperature sensor to be installed in a well and tested; the pilot will incorporate the transmission and connection system, as well as the signal processing on the surface.
g) New technology rotating machine
On-site test of rotating machine (pumps) incorporating new technology.
h) Well safety electronic control
Long term test of a pilot including hardware and software.
