CROWD MANAGEMENT WITH TELEMATIC IMAGING AND COMMUNICATION ASSISTANCE; CROMATICA

CROMATICA has provided a collection of laboratory demonstrators stating the feasibility of automatic detection of dangerous situations in Public Transport. These demonstrators make use of image processing and communications. The results of the CROMATICA project consist, on one hand, of a set of equipment for portable video transmission in bad conditions and, on the other hand, of a collection of algorithms implemented on PC-based demonstrators. These demonstrators deal with dangerous situations in the public transport area: it may be individual situations (thefts, fights, abnormal motions and halts, falls on the tracks) or global (crowds). These detectors are planned to help exploitation teams in the control rooms of Public Transport networks by automatically providing an alarm when an abnormal event occurs.
