To produce and pilot training packages on energy efficiency for use by housing professionals in local authorities and housing associations.
A final report is being prepared and approval of the outputs by the EC is awaited. The result will be a positive contribution to the SAVE objective of using training to change the attitudes and behaviour of those able to influence energy use in buildings.
The concept is to produce a training manual accompanied by a video and use these plus a pack of further information, guidance etc, as the teaching material for a pilot series of 20 workshops with local authorities in England and Scotland. Delegates complete exercises which are marked, and an action plan is prepared for each authority to help them progress.
The training manual consists of a housing energy management matrix, developed from a previous BRECSU version, and explanatory text. The main strategic issues for managers of public sector housing and typical achievement levels are addressed. Individual delegates are able to identify their performance on the matrix, thereby identifying areas of
strength and weakness and also possible disagreements between different departments of the local authority. They are also able to set targets for levels to be achieved within particular timescales.
