Objective
To develop and encourage awareness at primary school level, in the formative years of children, in the need for convertion of energy and the consequential improvement of the environment.
To achieve this by:
-producing teaching resources which satisfy the curriculum in the member states concerned (Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland)
-writing the materials in the language of, and using concepts understood by pupils aged 8-9 years old
-working closely with primary school teachers
To test the successs of the materials, there are to be used in a pilot involving 40 schools in N.IRL. and the Rep. of IRL.:the pilot to run over the winter 1995/96. The materials will be appraised by the teachers at the end of the pilot period.The appraisal will include testing pupils' knowledge and awareness of energy/energy efficiency.

-identified primary school teachers to take part in the pilot (21 in N. IRL, 22 in Rep. IRL)
-identified existing primary school teaching materials (textbooks for pupils,lesson plans with accompanying pupil worksheets,etc. for teachers)
-identified groups of teachers in both member states with whom to work on devising the materials
