Obiettivo
The objective of this project is to enhance and disseminate the knowledge of energy conservation technique of the textile industry, thereby supporting energy efficient investments, technology transfer between countries and future technology procurement in the EU.
The project is designed to improve the energy behaviour of the textile industry in the EU, through transfer of knowledge, networks and enhancing international integration.
These aims will be obtained by structured knowledge and a method that can be used for further developing energy efficiency in other process industries in Europe.
Organisations from five different EU countries will participate in the study in order to expose differences in the use of technology and energy management. The countries Denmark, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Sweden have been selected to take part in the project.
The project has two phases.
Phase one is a study of the different processes of textile manufacturing, the use of different techniques, energy consumption and energy conservation measures. The connection between environmental and energy measures will also be considered. Phase one aims at identifying possibilities, difficulties, formulating measures and methods that could support investment decisions in energy technology and management in different processes.
The focus of the study is:
- energy usage in the processes, technology and quantities
- technologies and methods for energy saving
- the range between best and worst technology used in textile processes
- the range between best and worst technology available
- a general evaluation of energy saving investments
- system usage of energy
Each of these factors will be analysed in each country that is participating in the study. Phase one of the project will be performed by all partners in the selected countries. Each partner will perform the collection of data (literature and detailed interviews) and the analysis of the industry in their own country. Up to twenty industries will be studied in each country.
Phase one is ended by an analysis with focus on a comprehensive view of the textile production system and the possibilities of supporting energy efficient measures in Europe.
In phase two the results of the study is to be disseminated. Our suggestion is to have seminars in small groups, open to energy managers in the textile industry as well as consultants. By the end of the seminar the participants will be encouraged to create networks to support each others work in the field of energy conservation. These networks can also be used for technology transfer between countries. (The ÅF-Group has extensive experience in administrating networks in energy management and environmental management.)
