Project description
Supporting solutions for energy efficient buildings
Windows and walls can be built to collect, store, reflect and even distribute solar energy in the form of heat during winter. In the summer, they can reject solar heat. However, there are smarter ways to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. Smart building technology is now able to reduce energy use by transitioning to renewable energy; however, the market uptake of ICT and smart solutions has been slow in the building sector, which is the single largest energy consumer in Europe. The EU-funded SMARTBUILT4EU project will work to reverse this trend. It will support projects related to smart buildings to facilitate exchange of information. Moreover, it will coordinate contributions of the European smart buildings innovation community to accelerate the uptake of pioneering solutions in the smart buildings sector.
