Enhancing flood resilience in the Danube River Region: The 2nd Annual Practitioner Forum – Training Edition
----- F O R U M ----- To actively contribute to the enhancement of flood resilience in the Danube River Region, the DAREnet project and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region Priority Area on Environmental Risks jointly organise the 2nd Annual Practitioner Forum – Training Edition. This year’s virtual Practitioner Forum will focus on the subject of training. The forum will introduce selected innovative approaches from practitioner organisations from the Danube Region with the aims to facilitate discussions about solutions, challenges and needs between experts and stakeholders, also to generate project ideas. ----- W O R K S H O P ----- The workshop on Tuesday, 24 November 2020 (9:30 - 12:00) lasts 2 1/2 hours altogether. The first hour consists of an overview of the Annual Practitioner Forum and short introductions of its participants. The main parts of the workshop are moderated break-out sessions (40 minutes each) during which two subjects will be tackled: Training of volunteers and professional responders * trigger discussion between different organisations about their approaches towards the training of volunteer and professional responders * identify good practices and training methods to improve training efficiency for spontaneous / trained responders * share practices regarding the different training systems for volunteers and professional responders of the Danube countries National, regional and international trainings * share practices and experience regarding the different training approaches at national, regional, international level * trigger discussion about regional level disaster preparedness and response activities compared to national and international systems * identify good practices at national and international trainings which can be implemented at regional level * exchange ideas about potential standardized training requirements at regional level The outcomes of the two break-out sessions will be taken up by our key experts in a panel discussion. ----- P A N E L ----- Building on the outcomes of a joint DAREnet/EU Strategy for the Danube Region Environmental Risks Priority Area hosted workshop, this will be the highlight of this year’s Annual Practitioner Forum: a panel discussion evolving around the question: “How can innovation in flood risk management training in the Danube River Region be enhanced through strategic partnerships?” Four key expert speakers will contribute to a lively discussion, while two hosts will lead the panel on Wednesday, 2 December 2020 (10:00 - 11:30): HOSTS * Christian J.
