Telematics Applications programme: Employment issues in urban areas
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published the proceedings of a seminar, referred to as the EPILOGUE seminar, held in January 1996, to discuss recommendations made by four studies carried out within the framework of the Community's specific programme in the field of telematics applications of common interest. The four projects in question were selected under the "Accompanying measures and preparatory actions and services" (APAS) budget line of the programme. Their brief was to undertake strategic studies into the effects of telematics actions on sensitive urban issues, such as employment, regeneration of districts, appeal of cultural life, and competitiveness in a world-wide economy. The projects are: - EMPLOY: Urban teleworking and employment opportunities; - JOINT: Job opportunities in new tele-activities; - CAPACITIES: Consolidated actions of public authorities for European cities in the new Information Society; - TELECITIES: Open network for concerted urban development through telematics. The report presents factsheets on each project, the presentations made by the consortia involved in the projects and contact details of the various parties involved.
