The European Commission has published a call for proposals for feasibility studies and demonstration actions to promote the development of the Information Society, bringing it closer to the European people, notably those who need to be especially encouraged and helped. Proposals for accompanying measures aimed at targeted awareness building, for example in the form of workshops, seminars and demonstrations of best practice, may also receive support. For feasibility studies and demonstration actions, proposing consortia are required to consist of at least two partners from different Member States. In the case of accompanying measures, a proposal may be submitted by an organization alone. The active participation of citizens' associations and social partners is strongly encouraged. The work to be undertaken, as identified in the work programme, is as follows: - Design of new communication methodologies and public-oriented pedagogical tools; - Analysis of experiences and potential of the Information Society, notably for women; - Analysis and promotion of information systems and services for less-favoured social groups; - Development of demonstration actions, in particular in small communities; - Analysis and promotion of electronic systems to assist individual consumers; - Analysis and promotion of methods for validation of information made available on Internet; - Organization of events promoting awareness and demonstrating best practice.
