BIOTECH Training Grants - Latest awards
The European Commission, DG XII, has announced the award of 45 Training Grants under the specific RTD programme in the field of Biotechnology (BIOTECH), following the second evaluation of 1996. BIOTECH Training Grants are available to European scientists at both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level. They are the subject of an open call (OJ No S 240 of 15.12.1995 p. 23) which means that proposals may be submitted at any time. Applications are evaluated three times a year by external referees. A total of 84 applications were received between the first evaluation deadline of 1996 (1 March) and the second deadline (1 July). Of these applications, 45 were awarded training grants for research in the field of biotechnology, bringing the total awards for 1996 to 87. Around 80 more applications were received before the third 1996 deadline of 1 November. These are presently being evaluated. A further three deadlines for evaluation of applications are scheduled for 1997: 1 March, 1 July and 1 November.
