Commission approves series of TACIS programmes
The European Commission has approved a series of TACIS programmes for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Mongolia. For Armenia, the Commission has adopted the 1996-1999 Indicative Programme with a budget of ECU 32 million and the 1996-1997 Action Programme of ECU 8.65 million. The selected areas of cooperation in the framework of those programmes are: - Development of the private sector; - Support for implementation of the Public Investment Programme; - Human Resources development. For Azerbaijan, the programmes are the 1996-1999 Indicative Programme with a budget of ECU 32 million and the 1996-1997 Action Programme of ECU 10.97 million. The selected areas of cooperation in the framework of those programmes are: - Development of Energy and Transport infrastructure; - Private sector development; - Education and government reform. For Georgia, the Commission has adopted the 1996-1999 Indicative Programme with a budget of ECU 32 million and the 1996-1997 Action Programme of ECU 11.42 million. The selected areas of cooperation in the framework of those programmes are: - Development of Infrastructure networks; - Private sector development; - Government and public sector reform. For Mongolia, the programmes adopted are the 1996-1999 Indicative Programme with a budget of ECU 20 million and the 1996-1997 Action Programme of ECU 6.6 million. The selected areas of cooperation in the framework of those programmes are: - Structural and Institutional reforms; - Enterprise and financial development; - Infrastructure development.
