The Institute for Safeguards and Verification Techniques, part of the Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), has published a call for expressions of interest relating to the development of software to control nuclear measurement instrumentation, as well as database applications to store the measurements results for subsequent performance evaluation. The instrumentation in question includes non-destructive assay (NDA) systems based on gamma, neutron and calorimetry techniques. The database applications will also store measurement data coming from destructive analysis performed in nuclear chemical laboratories. Some applications have already been developed and the services requested may also include modification/maintenance of existing applications. The successful tenderer for this work will be expected to: - Collaborate with the JRC Safeguards and Verification Techniques Unit and with Euratom Safeguards Directorate (ESD) in the design and specification of the applications; - Program applications in the environment and tools described above; - Install software systems in the working locations of the Commission and in nuclear facilities; - Provide training on the use and system administration of the systems which have been developed or modified by the tenderer. Software companies who wish to be invited to tender for this work are hereby asked to express their interest. All respondents satisfying the criteria detailed in the tender documents will be invited to tender. Any company making an offer for this work must be available for regular technical meetings at JRC Ispra and for visits to the other sites of the Commission for activities of installation and training. The execution of work under this contract will be carried out in the period 1 May 1997 to 31 December 2000.
