The COST Interaction Conference, which will take place in Basle, Switzerland, on 9-11 October 1995, will provide an opportunity for the presentation of the results of research carried out in the transport sector within the framework of COST.

Four lectures planned in the conference programme are directly devoted to transport and will support interdisciplinary debates on the following:

At the poster session participants will be shown the results of fifteen European concerted research actions. These cover such diverse topics as network integration, road infrastructure and safety, urban transport, information systems for maritime transport and transport accessibility. They will be able to discuss matters with experts from these actions and to obtain far better understanding of the applications and future prospects opened up by this research.

An exhibition of 130 m2 will be devoted to transport and, in addition to spaces reserved for COST Actions, the following exhibits are planned:

- A prototype low-floor bus;
- A presentation of the Swiss programme on "Light Weight Electric Vehicles in Mendrisio", which involves local implementation and marketing of hybrid or electric vehicles;
- A demonstration of three prototype light weight electric vehicles;
- New technologies aimed at weighing road vehicles in motion.

In addition, the most recent publications on COST transport measures will be available to participants with an interest in this key area.
