World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems

The third World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems will take place in Orlando, Florida, from 14 to 18 October 1996. The congress is organized by ERTICO, the European Road Transport Telematics Implementation Coordination Organization, and its sister organizations in the United States and in the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference will cover all aspects of intelligent transport systems from both a global and a regional perspective. Topics to be covered will include institutional and technical issues in the development of intelligent transport for both passenger and freight traffic and issues relating to customer acceptance.
Speakers at the conference will include representatives of government and industry from around the world. Several officials of the European Commission will be participating, representing both DG VII, responsible for transport, and DG XIII, responsible for telecommunications and the information market. In particular, officials responsible for the specific RTD programmes in the fields of Transport and Telematics Applications will participate.
In addition, Mr. Michael Lowry, Irish Minister for transport and current President of the Transport Council and Mr. Petrus Cornelissen, President of the European Parliament's Transport Committee will speak at the conference.
An exhibition will run parallel to the conference, where companies and institutions will be demonstrating the latest advances in intelligent transport systems. There will also be an outdoor test track where vehicles utilizing intelligent transport systems can be tried out.
