A brokerage event on advanced technologies in milling and baking will be held in Bucharest, Romania, on 26 and 27 November 1998. The event will be organised within the framework of the EUREKA initiative for cooperation between European firms and research institutes in the field of advanced technologies.

Recent changes to this industry in Romania have ensured that around 65% of the milling capacity has adapted to modern technologies, with the overall energy consumption being reduced by up to 28%. The adaptation of specific legislation, as well as a new strategy to create new classes of cereals and to improve the transportation and storage of cereals, is now the most important challenges facing the industry.

The topics to be covered during the conference will include the following:

- Total quality management and modern control methods for the milling and baking industry;
- Cereals in nutrition, health and biotechnology on cereal processing;
- Technologies for baking;
- Development of new machinery, systems, processes and products.
