The 4CH project aims at designing a European Competence Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, based on digital technologies. The pillars to achieve this objective are an advanced use of 3D modelling, the integration of data from scientific conservation analyses and a state-of-the-art organization of the knowledge about heritage assets. They will be integrated in the project’s Knowledge Base, a system facilitating access to relevant information, and provided as services on the 4CH cloud. In this way the project will address important societal issues as the valorisation and preservation of heritage, put at risk by hazards deriving from human actions (or lacks thereof) and environmental factors including climate change.
Another important action consists in the attention paid to human resources working in heritage management and conservation, with training services to upskill them and to facilitate the digital transformation of the sector.
