Project description
Better lifetime stacks for heavy-duty vehicles
Fuel cell stacks generate the electrical energy used to power fuel cell electric vehicles. While 6 000 h lifetime is sufficient for light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles require at least five times longer. The improvement in the components is an essential step. In this context, the EU-funded MORELife project will improve the materials and operating strategies. It will identify degradation issues that remain a major challenge to overcome in order to achieve the durability required for heavy-duty vehicles. The project will also optimise the operating conditions based on the improved materials. The results will be used to validate the improvements and demonstrate a predicted lifetime of 30 000 h.
