The planned technical and commercial tasks have been successfully developed and the corresponding milestones have been achieved.
At the start of the project, the goal was licensing intellectual property rights (IPR) from our portfolio to a third party. After careful consideration and extensive feedback from end-users of the innovation, we have determined that the correct way to commercialize the innovation is to deliver a product to the end-user. This business model is particularly important in considering the protection of intellectual property (IP) and safeguarding the European Union’s goals to provide affordable, secure and sustainable energy for Europe.
During the project, a small pilot line has been designed and installed to demonstrate the manufacturing of the prototype battery. This provides battery manufactures to evaluate ENERZ demonstrator batteries, which at the same time will provide feedback and allow us to refine our product to overcome technical barriers for the construction of formal production lines.
Furthermore, the work to test and validate the battery performance of ENERZ with key European battery manufacturing partners has yet to be initiated. So far, the internal validation has been completed and external validation will occur beyond this project. Testing agreements with battery system integrators includes testing plans for potential customers to test and validate performance for their respective applications. To this date, Enerpoly has signed three agreements with battery system integrators, and are under negotiation with additional potential customers.
Enerpoly performed their first external testing of ENERZ for safety together with Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE). The tests were successful and showed that ENERZ has no possibility to catch fire and allows Enerpoly to fast-track for UL listing in future stationary energy storage systems.
The IPR, risks and management tasks of the project have been effectively implemented and showed good results by the end of the project. One patent was filed and development of the second patent occurred during the project while it is expected to be filed by the end of 2022. The commercialization tasks have been initiated and agreements has been signed with potential customers interested in purchasing the ENERZ product. Public relations, communication and dissemination actions have been deployed with good results and reception from targeted audiences.
