Periodic Reporting for period 1 - HYPERNEX (HYPERNEX: IGNITION OF THE EUROPEAN HYPERLOOP ECOSYSTEM)
Periodo di rendicontazione: 2020-12-01 al 2022-02-28
Those objectives of the Hypernex project are well-aligned with the needs of Europe. For example, it is important for Europe to establish its leadership in the transport industry by developing novel, disruptive means of transport (e.g. hyperloop) that can augment and/or displace existing modes to meet the needs of European travellers, while concurrently contributing to Europe’s industrial capabilities, providing jobs, and creating export opportunities. Europe must also tackle the climate change crisis by minimizing its GHG emissions (as acknowledged in the European Green Deal, which outlines climate objectives such as minimizing transport-related emissions by 90% by 2050). The Hypernex project supports the development of Europe’s hyperloop industry, which can help achieve those goals.
The Hypernex project contributes to developing and ultimately deploying a novel, sustainable transport system that allows Europe to achieve its Paris Agreement and European Green Deal objectives. EVs contribute to urban transport decarbonization, but long-distance trips currently have few low-carbon alternatives; hyperloop has the potential to become a key solution in decarbonizing long-distance transport while meeting the needs of European citizens by providing fast, safe, flexible, and comfortable transportation.
WP1 - Management
WP2 - Observatory
WP3 - Technical definitions
WP4 - Transfer and synergies
WP5 - Dissemination
WP1 affected to the management of the project. A kick off meeting and two conferences were done during the project open to partners, advisors and hyperloop interested audience.
WP2- "Observatory Results" stablished the actual state-of-art about hyperloop and their stakeholders. It includes a deep literature review. The results of this WP are collected in the deliverable D2.1- "Observatory"
In WP2 the hyperloop was studied as system in Europe, Who are the different stakeholders in the hyperloop ecosystem. Regulations and challenges for hyperloop were also studied
WP3 - Technical definitions studied the different innovative concepts suitable for guided transport modes. Also it includes the identification of more than 150 hazards and presents the safety case analysis and evacuation. The different technical components of Hyperloop architecture and the hyperloop operation were studied.
It has a Deliverable (D3.1 "Technical definitions") gathering all the information relevant for the technical specifications of Hyperloop.
Finally WP4 - Transfer and synergies deeps in the different programs and projects and presents what can be relevant for the development and deployment of hyperloop and what can be useful from Hyperloop development to other fields. It searches for the different synergies from one side to the other. It makes a deep review of the possible transferability under S2R roadmap, the transferability and cross-fertilization to non-railway modes and finally standardization and regulation.
The final document of WP4 did not follow this breakdown but instead included three main sections: guided transport, non-guided transport, and standardization and regulation. This is gathering in the deliverable D4.1"Transferability and roadmap beyond HYPERNEX"
The dissemination was the focus of WP5; a web site has been created with all the relevant info and deliverables about HYPERNEX (http://hypernex.eu); 1 Paper indexed in JCR and Scopus Databases has been written and the different partners have been attending to different events to spread the HYPERNEX framework.
2. We gather all relevant stakeholders every day, encompassing innovative concepts for guided transport modes. Therefore, HYPERNEX addresses the need for a catalyst to accelerate the development of hyperloop.
3. Cross-fertilization of knowledge from other disciplines or from disruptive technologies and innovation (e.g. coming from hyperloop) is not yet fully applicable to rail, encouraging the exploration of innovative ideas and R&D in guided transport modes. The development of hyperloop requires a massive contribution from the R&D and industrial ecosystem.
4. HYPERNEX acts as a catalyst to align the EU efforts in a single direction, helping to increase visibility for hyperloop
5. The HYPERNEX consortium members are specifically selected to cover the maximum number of discussion spaces and the broadest set of knowledge possible.
6. These activities and initiatives form part of what is now known as the green economy and will be considered defining the models and requirements related to hyperloop development.
HYPERNEX project has produced relevant documentation as a result of the different WPs;
D2.1 "Observatory Results"
D3.1 "Technical definitions"
D4.1"Transferability and roadmap beyond HYPERNEX"
