Risultati finali
Report on completed and planned co-design activities including interactive stakeholder workshops, stakeholder engagement, engagement and cross-lobbying with national and EU-level stakeholders, on-line user and developer fora for models and tools, and networking activities and workshops defined based on the stakeholder analysis.
Advice on governance structures (si apre in una nuova finestra)Advice on governance structures for a permanent monitoring and pathway assessment system, and a reporting and accounting framework for the LULUCF sector.
Quality control plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)For the Quality Control Plan a reporting scheme and a progress-monitoring template will be prepared, according to which each Task and WP leader will inform about the progress. In the beginning of the project a quality control plan will be established, which will be implemented by using internal peer-review of each deliverable and milestone.
Field protocol established (si apre in una nuova finestra)The field protocol for conducting advanced plot-level measurements of forest attributes including carbon pools and biodiversity is established. Within this, new approaches for improved and transparent field data recording is developed, including 3D forest digital twinning by fusing drone laser scanning, terrestrial laser scanning, and optical data from cameras.
Framework for estimating soil carbon changes and fluxes (si apre in una nuova finestra)Framework for estimating soil carbon changes and fluxes between living biomass, DOM and soil pools with the input from Task 3.1 and 3.2. The current and upcoming versions of the DOM and soil carbon cycling model Yasso will be used to estimate C stock changes.
Policy target map (si apre in una nuova finestra)Map of EU, national and sub-national policy goals and targets. At EU, national, and sub-national level, goals and targets are set by different policy sectors (forest, climate, nature conservation and others) relevant for silvicultural systems. Targets are formulated to support the achievement of these goals often related to specific years (2030, 2050 or 2100).
Status of internal communication systems (si apre in una nuova finestra)Status on the internal communication systems in relation to effective and efficient means of communication within the project and with the Commission.
Report on completed and planned communication activities (si apre in una nuova finestra)Report on completed and planned communication activities including content on project website, social media and other tools such as engaging audio-visual material press activities like press/news releases at project launch, interviews and press events.
Common reporting framework for the LULUCF sector (si apre in una nuova finestra)The estimates resulting from the forest monitoring system (WP1-2) will be converted into a common reporting framework for the LULUCF sector that satisfies the IPCC methodological requirements as well as the information needs from an EU policy perspective.
Design alternatives of a consistent field survey (si apre in una nuova finestra)Documentation of design alternatives of a consistent field survey based on advanced field data collection approaches and methods for improved estimation of carbon fluxes. Based on information on existing European forest monitoring systems that collect field data, a consistent field survey and plot design will be developed that supports the existing systems.
Status on Land System Map (si apre in una nuova finestra)Status on Land System Models that are creating future forest scenarios based on the demands for forest management regimes.
Initial characteristics for mapping and estimation platform (si apre in una nuova finestra)Description of the initial technical characteristics of the mapping and estimation platform for:- Fetching and preprocessing of remotely sensed data - Fetching and preprocessing of auxiliary datasets- Input of field data and extraction of remote sensing variables- Model creation or re-parametrization- Model application to mapping and estimation of target variables with uncertainty quantification- Dissemination
The aim of the Data Management Plan is to ensure best practices for data management with regard to data security, storage, availability and accessibility according to the FAIR principles. In the DMP it will be specified, which data types are collected and generated, which standards will be used, and how the data can be exploited. For each main data type produced by the project, the plan will define how it will be made accessible for public use and further analyses in accordance with the FAIR principles.
Updated DMP 4 (si apre in una nuova finestra)The aim of the Data Management Plan is to ensure best practices for data management with regard to data security, storage, availability and accessibility according to the FAIR principles. In the DMP it will be specified, which data types are collected and generated, which standards will be used, and how the data can be exploited. For each main data type produced by the project, the plan will define how it will be made accessible for public use and further analyses in accordance with the FAIR principles.
Updated DMP 2 (si apre in una nuova finestra)The aim of the Data Management Plan is to ensure best practices for data management with regard to data security, storage, availability and accessibility according to the FAIR principles. In the DMP it will be specified, which data types are collected and generated, which standards will be used, and how the data can be exploited. For each main data type produced by the project, the plan will define how it will be made accessible for public use and further analyses in accordance with the FAIR principles.
Updated DMP 1 (si apre in una nuova finestra)The aim of the Data Management Plan is to ensure best practices for data management with regard to data security, storage, availability and accessibility according to the FAIR principles. In the DMP it will be specified, which data types are collected and generated, which standards will be used, and how the data can be exploited. For each main data type produced by the project, the plan will define how it will be made accessible for public use and further analyses in accordance with the FAIR principles.

Updated DMP 5 (si apre in una nuova finestra)The aim of the Data Management Plan is to ensure best practices for data management with regard to data security, storage, availability and accessibility according to the FAIR principles. In the DMP it will be specified, which data types are collected and generated, which standards will be used, and how the data can be exploited. NFI, ICP Forests, and LUCAS data will be analyzed to harmonize and improve the assessment of carbon fluxes among living biomass, deadwood, litter and soil pools. Based on the harmonized data sets of field measurements, Yasso and CBM will be adopted, validated, and improved.
Statistically-sound estimators (si apre in una nuova finestra)Implementation of existing, or development of new statistically-sound estimators combining field plot data and RS products. The emphasis will be on estimation techniques for target parameters at the whole EU level down to Inspire grids, that can handle insufficient field sample size given the accuracy requirements or expectation.
Description of models and estimators (si apre in una nuova finestra)Description of models and estimators that link the field and remote sensing data for mapping and estimation.
