The RE4DY project focuses on building resilient manufacturing ecosystems by establishing a unified framework for data sharing, digital twins, and connected factories. The main objectives include: 1) Developing a reference framework for data spaces and a legal framework for data ownership. 2) Increasing data autonomy via open-source toolkits for "Data as a Product" (DaaP). 3) Accelerating smart manufacturing with mutual trust and automated governance. 4) Providing an open Digital Twin Ops framework. 5) Democratizing industrial data via testing facilities (TEFs) and upskilling programs. 6) Executing large-scale trials in key sectors (automotive, batteries, aeronautics). 7) Maximizing impact through standardization and ecosystem expansion.

Over 40 months, RE4DY transitioned the DaaP paradigm from conceptual design to full-scale deployment.
Work Performed:

Frameworks (WP2): Consolidated the Digital 4.0 Continuum Reference Architecture (DCRA) bridging OT/IT. Developed the Active Resilience Framework and a techno-legal framework with machine-readable IP Rights ontologies.

Open Toolkit (WP3): Integrated sovereign data space connectors (Sovity EDC), Cognitive Digital Twins (xCDT) over 5G, and privacy-preserving Federated AI (FEDMA/ALIDA).

Large-Scale Pilots (WP4&5): Engineered solutions in Automotive (autonomous logistics), e-Batteries (collaborative digital twins), Machine Tooling (federated predictive maintenance), and Aeronautics (decentralized AI for Zero-Defect Manufacturing).

Skills (WP6): Applied the 6P methodology, identified 13 emerging profiles, and launched the RE4DY Academy (60 courses).

Main Achievements:

Defined 18 Key Exploitable Results (KERs), including 9 high-TRL commercial solutions.

Demonstrated up to a 50% reduction in layout planning times (AVL).

Proved the viability of secure B2B data sharing.

Drastically exceeded dissemination KPIs with 28 scientific publications (280% of target), 10 FAIR datasets, and 117 event participations.

Successfully achieved all 38 deliverables and milestones.

RE4DY pushed the SotA by operationalizing theoretical concepts in real industrial settings:

Sovereign DaaP: Moved from centralized data lakes to decentralized, IDSA/Gaia-X compliant data sharing (Sovity Connector), allowing SMEs to share shop-floor data without losing trade secret sovereignty.

Privacy-Preserving AI: Replaced centralized AI training with Federated Learning (FEDMA/ALIDA), enabling collaborative model training across distributed plants without exchanging raw data.

5G Cognitive Digital Twins: Evolved static digital twins into dynamic, cross-facility xCDTs using Asset Administration Shells (AAS) over 5G, accelerating physical ramp-up by up to 50%.

Machine-Readable Legal Interoperability: Translated complex offline legal constraints (e.g. EU Data Act) into automated IP Rights Ontologies (IPRO) enforceable by Data Space connectors.

Operationalizing Active Resilience: Shifted supply chain resilience from theoretical risk-management to actionable daily KPIs via the Active Resilience Framework (Compass and Radar).
