During the final 21 months (March 2024-November 2025) the Exten.(D.T.)² project consolidated its framework, educational resources, school interventions, and learning analytics tools, demonstrating significant impact on Design Thinking (DT) education. The Exten.(D.T.)² Framework and Guidelines for Deployment were finalised, resulting in a clear, tree-themed model and practical guidelines for teachers. Both resources are publicly available and support inclusive, sustainable integration of DT across K–12 contexts. A range of educational activities and supporting materials was produced, including video tutorials, guides, a teacher toolkit, and the DT Activity Plan Template. Activities covered diverse topics such as sustainable cities, healthy eating, music, cybersecurity, AI, and more, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of DT teaching.
Through co-design and school interventions, 104 teachers from 61 schools implemented 77 interventions, reaching 2,136 students. In total, 63 DT activity plans were created, with results showing strengthened 21st Century skills, digital competencies, and strong alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project advanced learning analytics and adaptive feedback through the development of the Authorable Learning Analytics (ALA) dashboard, capturing activity data from ChoiCo, SorBET, MaLT2, and GearsBot. Early evaluations after workshops with teachers in Greece and Sweden indicate the dashboard is a promising tool to support instructional decisions and can be adapted across diverse educational contexts.
Dissemination, professional development, and policy impact included a project website, social media, newsletters, scientific publications, a free online course for teachers, and a policy brief presented at EC-supported events. The project maintained a strong ethical framework, ensuring student privacy, safety, and rights while introducing innovative digital tools. Practical guidance was developed for responsible adoption of emerging technologies, supporting safe and transparent classroom innovation. Overall, Exten.(D.T.)² demonstrates a scientifically grounded, pedagogically innovative, and ethically robust approach to integrating DT with emerging technologies, producing validated resources, effective classroom interventions, policy-relevant insights, and advanced learning analytics tools that align with EU objectives for digital literacy, innovative pedagogy, and sustainable development.
