Risultati finali
A review report summarising catchment physiography, sector activities, monitoring infrastructures, water quality status, sector source apportionment approaches and outputs, and N and P water quality targets to feed into WP1.Based on a collation and analysis of baseline data of each catchment an overview will be made of the characteristics of each catchment and the current water quality status. Water quality monitoring programmes in each catchment will be evaluated and trends in river N and P concentration and loads will be identified and compared against the WFD-targets. Current understanding of the sector contributions to N and P loading in each catchment will be reviewed. This deliverable is linked to Task 2.1
Concept MFA-based methodology (si apre in una nuova finestra)A first draft of a harmonized common MFA-based methodology for quantifying and comparing N, P and C stocks and flows across NW European catchments and catchmentsThe final report will be delivered in M28 (D2.2). This is a first draft available for the review at M18. A harmonised common MFA-based methodology for quantifying and comparing N, P and C stocks and flows across NW European catchments and catchmentsA detailed material flow analysis (MFA) of inputs, outputs and internal flows of N, P and C, and their interactions, will be undertaken within each catchment using best available input data for contributing economic activities and sectors. The same MFA model will be applied to all catchments in cooperation with partners and stakeholders. A suite of metrics arising from the MFA, including nutrient efficiency, surplus and losses, will be compared across the catchments. This deliverable is linked to Task 2.2
Plan for dissemination and communication (si apre in una nuova finestra)An initial plan for dissemination and exploitation including communication activities
Harmonised policies (si apre in una nuova finestra)Harmonised environmental protection policies and actions for implementation. This document will summarise the discussion and evaluation made by the policy makers participating in the PSWG NW Europe, environmental protection agencies and experts in environmental impact models, regarding the best common /harmonized common policy procedure to protect catchments and make the required actions in terms of setting reduction targets taking into account model approaches, data collection and indicators. Recommendation will be given in which current approaches and data collection needs to be improved to robustly determine nutrient losses at river basin scale from different sectors.
Institutional analysis and policy instruments (si apre in una nuova finestra)A report presenting results of institutional analysis and characterisation of policy instruments for the three catchmentsThe institutional arrangements for land and water governance in each catchment will be assessed through structured institutional analysis and the policy and regulatory measures (and associated technologies) currently applied in the three catchments to mitigate N and P loads categorised by regulatory, economic and advisory instruments . Policy instruments used in the deployment of mitigation measures will be score-evaluated on the basis of three criteria - effectiveness, efficiency and equity/fairness using a mix of quantitative and qualitive evidence gathered through stakeholder interviews.
A report with an options matrix of BMP scenarios relevant to each study catchment, and their potential impacts on N and P emissions, including the effects and risks of pollution swapping and impacts on key indicators identified in WP2.The matrix will contain a set of BMP scenarios relevant to each study catchment. The matrix will then be presented to the PSWG and case study stakeholders to select the most appropriate option(s) from the list.
