The G9MISSIONS project has successfully executed all planned activities and achieved all designated milestones.
In preparation for the European Researchers' Night 2022, the project celebrated two pre-events in its first year: Green Week and World Cancer Day. The project also conducted two days of online training sessions in May.
The first main event of the project, the European Researchers' Night, was held on September 30th, 2022, and was attended by researchers, academics, and the general public. The event effectively promoted the five European research and innovation missions and their contribution to tackling some of the world's most pressing challenges.
In addition, the Circular Science program was developed, involving researchers with the entire school community throughout the 2-year duration of the project. The program effectively inspired young students to pursue scientific careers and promoted STEAM learning.
To raise awareness of the European Researchers' Night 2023, the pre-event for the second year was World Ocean Day, which took place in June 2023 with activities aimed at increasing awareness about both the Ocean Mission and the Soil Mission. These initiatives included various events such as educational boat trips, a nocturnal marine safari, and a seashore geological visit. Additionally, there were scientific workshops focusing on water-related topics through experimental activities.
The second major event of the European Researchers' Night was scheduled for September 29th, 2023. This event had a significant impact on promoting the objectives of the EU missions, as well as inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.
Overall, the G9MISSIONS project successfully promoted the contribution of research and researchers to society, enhanced the recognition of researchers and their role in society, motivated researchers to participate in science outreach events, and better connected citizens and experts on EU Missions.
