Zusammenfassung vom Kontext und den Gesamtzielen des Projekts

The aims of this proposal are:
• To analyse social, economic and environmental changes and disruptions (including covid) and evaluate their impact on SCs, identifying related
challenges in terms of relationship between countries, configuration of the network, impact on employment.
• To study and propose a set of SC models for the evolution of global SC integrating strategies like resource efficient, closed-loop and
humanitarian as a way to increase EU resilience and sustainability. Particular attention will be given to the role of digitalization as a way to establish
new paths for social inclusion taking into consideration the needs of urban and rural areas. Some important European sectors like fashion,
automotive, medical and machine tools will be analysed with case studies and survey.
• To develop Innovative tools for monitoring and assessing sectoral trade patterns and defining mechanisms to evaluate relationship of disruptions
like pandemic and global value chains taking into consideration impact on employment, economic growth, incomes etc also in the long term.
Moreover, it will be analysed the impact of different trade patterns, on the EU value added of sectoral and countries with a specific focus on
analyzing income inequalities and proposition of decent work and social cohesion. Particular attention will be gives to gender issues and social
disparities.
• To develop innovative policy scenarios with recommendations for future global value chains: policy scenarios will be based on Key horizontal
issues impacting on several sectors and will provide recommendations for EU, national and sectoral strategies, policy measures and targeted
actions aimed at shaping fair, inclusive and sustainable trade patterns, value and supply chains as well as production networks.

Arbeit, die ab Beginn des Projekts bis zum Ende des durch den Bericht erfassten Berichtszeitraums geleistet wurde, und die wichtigsten bis dahin erzielten Ergebnisse

Outcome1. Development of knowledge on the ongoing and expected changes and disruptions in trade patterns, global value chains and production networks through mapping of the social, economic and environmental risks and evaluation of their impact on SCs, identification of related challenges in terms of relationships in supply chains.
Outcome2. Identification of innovative ways to maximise the potential and mitigate the adverse social, economic and environmental impacts of changes in supply chains. The project proposes supply chain models for their transformation based on integration of actions like resource efficient, closed-loop and human-centric as a way to increase EU resilience and sustainability. In this mapping of actions and strategies, it was studied the role of digitalization to support this transition and to evaluation social sustainability in sectors like fashion, steel, retailing with case studies and survey.
Outcome 3 - Assessment of the impacts of several type of disruptions (Covid, new regulations, demographic change etc) can have on supply chains, and their short- and longer-term implications for employment and social resilience in the EU. In particular, the project developed Innovative tools for monitoring and assessing sectoral trade patterns and defining mechanisms to evaluate relationship of disruptions taking into consideration impact on employment, economic growth, incomes etc also in the long term.Social accounting of supply chains was also studied.
Outcome 4 - defining policy scenarios for future value chain developments to ensure strengthen the economic resilience of societies, foster sustainable employment creation in the EU and mitigate the impacts of future trade and value chains disruptions on EU employment. this was based on the development innovative policy scenarios with recommendations for future global value chains: policy scenarios will be based on Key horizontal issues impacting on several sectors and will provide recommendations for EU, national and sectoral strategies, policy measures and targeted actions aimed at shaping fair, inclusive and sustainable trade patterns, value and supply chains as well as production networks.

These results target industrial business owners, supply chain managers, technological companies, industrial associations, policy makers, researchers. The knowledge developed in ReSChape is thought to have impact in terms of better understanding of the vulnerability of supply chain and to implement appropriate actions to solve them in the long-term also with digital technology adoption.
The results can have an impact in terms of:
- new programs to educate the managers of the future with best practices and new models. The analysis of the gap between demand and offer in jobs for supply chain management can have an impact on designing new education programs, and redesign and upgrade the existing programs. It can support the identification of the most important employable soft and hard skills to reduce unemployment rates with equitable opportunities for all.
- Industrial impact: the results have been spread via technical articles in industrial briefs, sectorial magazines and they can help companies to widen their approach to resilience by enhancing the role of collaboration, innovation and knowledge management as enabler of more transparency on business practices, related to employment, job quality, wellbeing, local communities.
- Policy making: the multi-country, multi-sector model developed in this project can be applied to analyse the issues affecting international supply chains. For example, the consequences of shocks such as the corona crisis or a trade freeze between Europe and China were analysed with dedicated scenarios and the implementation of the scenarios in the digital tool allow to navigate the scenarios focusing on some countries or sectors. The results can have an impact on the definition of the next framework programme.
