Projektbeschreibung
Ziel
The key research goal of the MSCA PF (Project Acronym - GraBBIng) is to enhance the leadership and research capability of the Marie Curie Fellow Dr.Vanesa Quintano via implementing a highly challenging and innovative research project focused on the development of highly sensitive and selective clinical biosensors based on two-dimensional (2D)-nanomaterial (graphene oxide, GO) to address European Union (EU) and World Health Organization (WHO) raised issues in public health care. Graphene will be used and duly functionalized to work as a sensor for the direct and accurate detection of novel biomarkers for the early diagnosis of lung cancer. 2D nanomaterial research and development will be performed under the supervision of Prof. Rakesh Joshi, Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering and leading the Graphene Research Group-UNSW Team Graphene, Australia. Additionally, a one-year return phase especially dedicated to the biosensor optimization and clinical validation will take place under the supervision of Prof. Laura Lechuga, Head of the Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Barcelona, Spain. Researcher Dr Vanesa Quintano is expert in nanotechnology and graphene-based biosensors for biomedical applications, Prof. Rakesh is a nanotechnology expert in graphene-based materials and Prof. Lechuga is expert in biosensors and analytical applications. The project implements a set of coordinated actions among its different partners that maximize international collaboration between universities, research centers and industry in different European and worldwide countries. The European competitiveness will be potentiated throughout the project with the exploitation of the research results, ultimately giving high-level EU employment and maintaining the European status quo of high‐level‐knowledge countries.
