Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SEANERGY (Sustainability EducationAl programme for greeNEr fuels and enerGY on ports)

Berichtszeitraum: 2022-10-01 bis 2023-12-31

The SEANERGY project aims to contribute to the clean energy transition of European ports. The project's overall objectives include understanding the current state of European ports' clean energy transition, identifying the challenges and needs, and developing sustainable solutions. The project's expected impact encompasses scientific, economic, societal, and industrial aspects.
Key Activities and Achievements in RP1:
(WP1): This phase focused on understanding the current EU ports' situation and stakeholders in relation to the green energy transition. It involved identifying and classifying stakeholders, creating a comprehensive database, and analyzing their needs, motivations, and challenges.
(WP2): Conducted a gap analysis of the EU port clean energy transition, identifying barriers and potential solutions through desk research, literature review, surveys, and roundtable discussions. It also reviewed outcomes of various regional and demo-port workshops, highlighting the need for an integrated approach involving policy, businesses, technology, industry, port authorities, and stakeholders for sustainable port and port-city developments.
(WP3): Focused on establishing a foundation for its activities, including setting up meetings, defining responsibilities, and developing methodologies. Despite delays in earlier work packages, significant steps have been taken, such as presenting a new approach to harmonize tasks in WP3.
The SEANERGY project, under the HORIZON 2020 program, has made significant progress in its technical and scientific aspects. The project focuses on the clean energy transition of European ports. In Work Package 1 (WP1), the project has produced key deliverables, including a report on stakeholders, a catalogue of technologies, and results of sustainability assessments. Work Package 2 (WP2) has conducted workshops and produced deliverables addressing the gap analysis of the EU port clean energy transition. Work Package 3 (WP3) has focused on establishing a foundation for its activities, including setting up meetings, defining responsibilities, and developing methodologies. The project has also made significant strides in communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities, including the launch of a project website, social media channels, and the creation of dissemination and exploitation plans. The project has organized workshops, conferences, and events to disseminate its results and has initiated an exploitation workshop to define the direction for exploiting the project's results. The project has also made progress in project management and coordination. The detailed overview of the activities and achievements can be found in the SEANERGY periodic report.
The SEANERGY project has made significant strides in addressing the technical and scientific challenges related to the clean energy transition of European ports. The project has established positive contacts with 365 workshop attendees from various sectors in 21 EU member countries, 4 neighboring countries, and all continents, demonstrating its broad engagement and potential impact.
The project's activities have focused on creating synergies at various levels, including regular online meetings, task and methodology discussions, and harmonizing WP3 tasks to integrate with national and EU-level research and innovation initiatives. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that the project's activities not only progress in line with its goals but also contribute to and benefit from broader European research and innovation efforts
In terms of dissemination and exploitation, the project has developed a draft of the Dissemination and Communication Plan (D5.1) and the Exploitation Plan Report (D5.2) providing a roadmap for how the project's results can be exploited and delivered to the target groups and the market. The exploitation roadmap includes measures to put this strategy in place during the project's lifetime and after its end
