Aligned with the strategic aim of past twinning projects, the BROAD-ER initiative focuses on developing excellence and research prominence in migration and urban studies. Its primary objective is to establish a Research Excellence Network involving Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Spain, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in the Netherlands, and Koç University (KU) in Turkey. This collaboration aims to bridge research gaps and enhance Research & Innovation capacities in Turkey within the realms of migration and urban studies.
The project provides scientific and research management training to researchers, addressing key skills such as research proposal management, ethical considerations, diversity, equity and inclusion, scientific outreach, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. This training, alongside mobility activities, aims to foster networking and internationalization at Koç University.
Through joint publications and improved ability to attract research funding, BROAD-ER aims to achieve its objectives, which include establishing a multidisciplinary research group, reinforcing research management capacity at KU, enhancing innovation capacity, and effectively disseminating project activities and results.
In essence, BROAD-ER focuses on enhancing Koç University's research capabilities by collaborating with leading international institutions in migration and urban studies.
By completing thorough background reports and meticulous gap analyses, the project is presently delving into the intricacies of migration and urban dynamics, aiming to unveil synergies among various analytical, empirical, and theoretical frameworks within these domains. Through a range of targeted trainings, workshops, and seasonal schools (summer and winter), several of which have concluded and some are ongoing, the project is actively disseminating knowledge and connecting with a wider audience, both internally and externally.
