Report on the economic assessment and optimisation of SOLARX for COVE and IRR in northern Europe
CPV receiver and fabrication report (si apre in una nuova finestra)The receiver built will be tested electrically to verify that all cells are connected and there is no short circuit in the receiver. The cooling capability will then be verified.
Report on the impact of SOLARX system in the RES by 2030/2050 (si apre in una nuova finestra)Based on the EU reference scenario and World Energy Scenarios published by World Energy Council a report will be made on the impact of SOLARX system in the electrical grid and H2 markets by 2030/2050 for varying levels of SOLARX deployment.
Standards inventory. Preliminary report (si apre in una nuova finestra)Standards inventory and contacts with other consortiums with similar standard barriers established
Life cycle assessment (si apre in una nuova finestra)Life cycle assessment (LCA) will be conducted in compliance with current standards and reference works, viz. the ISO standards 14044:2006 and the EU Commission’s International Life Cycle Data System (ILCD) technical guidance on LCA application (i.e. ILCD Handbook). It will cover the entire life cycle of the technologies and systems analysed.
Standards inventory and recommendations. Final report (si apre in una nuova finestra)Recommendations for future implementations and/or adaptations of Standards to cover SOLARX technology.
Roadmap for exploitation including business models for a path-to-market. Final report (si apre in una nuova finestra)Roadmap for exploitation for a path-to-market, based on possible business and operational models for the project results
Results of CPV receiver tests (si apre in una nuova finestra)We will mount the advanced receiver on a sun tracker with parabolic dishes that will concentrate the sunlight onto the dense receiver. The receiver will be under operating conditions (1000×, non-uniform illumination), targeting 40.7% receiver efficiency. Electrical and on-sun characterisations will be performed at CNRS, while the thermal characterisation will be performed at UDL.
Updated Project Management Plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)This deliverable will update the preliminary Project Management Plan, including the Gantt chart and the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).It will also update the schedules per task, responsible partner related subtasks, related deliverables, and dependencies on other tasks.
Technical performance of the system (si apre in una nuova finestra)Technical performance of the system assessed through the parametrised electrical/thermal/chemical modelA system model will be developed based in the optical model, CPV and H2 models and the control approach for each subsytem. The parametrised models will include the transient behaviour of the receivers along the system operation. The report presented will offer detail about this models and the results achieved in the technical performance assessment of the SOLARX system.
Strategic Roadmap (si apre in una nuova finestra)A report will be made to instil quality culture among the partners, the Strategic Roadmap will include a Risk Management Process and a Quality Action Plan. A quality action plan will be included in the Strategic Roadmap covering: Quality requirements of the project, Quality control of deliverables through internal peer review process, Quality control of the project, files and archives. The purpose is to describe the actions and measures taken to ensure the full conformance of the project with the contractual requirements, issued in accordance to the ISO-9001 standard
Forecast-based adaptive solar management algorithm (si apre in una nuova finestra)Forecast-based adaptive solar management algorithm and publication submitted to reviewed journal
Preliminary Project Management Plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)The Project Management Plan includes a Gantt chart and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), will be completed at a very early stage of the project (e.g. M2). It also details a schedule per task, responsible partner related subtasks, related deliverables, and dependencies on other tasks.
Report on social acceptance of SOLARX system and recommendations (si apre in una nuova finestra)Asurvey from a ‘population point of view’, to anticipate the positive and negative perceptions and representations of the SOLARX system. After reviewing the state of the art from a social and human sciences perspective , we will conduct a qualitative survey of perceptions, representations and feedbacks from a citizen perspective (people living around those installations or affected by them). Around 25 people will be interviewed. This will enable the early identification of major flaws in the design that should be avoided to ensure the adhesion of the population to a potential installation of a SOLARX system in their neighbourhood.
Documentation of integration of SOLARX concept into energyPro (si apre in una nuova finestra)Integration of SOLARX concept into energyPRO for widespread use by developer community will be documented. The integration will be made by adapting and implementing the modelling approach made in Task 4.2.
Roadmap for exploitation. Preliminary report (si apre in una nuova finestra)Preliminary roadmap for exploitation based on an initial business model, market assesment and requirements.
Report on the economic assessment and optimisation of SOLARX in southern, central and northern Europe (si apre in una nuova finestra)A report will be made on the economic assessment and optimisation of SOLARX for COVE and IRR in southern, central and northern Europe, thus identifying the potential for COVE reduction / IRR improvement of 20%.
Two white papers will be made based on deliverables and rewritten to address policy and decision makers, including policy recommendations. A policymaker round table will be organised, with participation amongst others of ACER, EEU, EIB, big companies and renown academics.
Project Website including sections for different stakeholders (si apre in una nuova finestra)The actual deliverable is the publicly available online presence of the project website. At the due date of the deliverable an initial website with the basic information on the project will be available. A brief report will be submitted that summarises the creation of the website and plans for further maintenance, updates and expansion of the website over the course of the project.
The document will expose the access conditions to data generated in the project will be detailed in the Data Management Plan, that will make the data/research outputs findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR). Open access to research data will be promoted and exceptions will be clearly explained in the DMP.The goal of this document is to ensure traceability and archiving of the project data in line with the EU’s FAIR principles and enable the consortium to provide SOLARX data as open as possible and as protected as necessary. The data management plan will be updated very six months.
A first batch of prototype cells will then be fabricated and characterised indoor with one sun illumination and with flash test measurements and a characterisation report will be generated.
Design of microreactor for DMR and bi-energy (si apre in una nuova finestra)A ceramic heating element will be integrated on the unexposed surface of the reaction zone and the design adapted to enhance conduction to the catalyst bed and ensure good thermal contact using compliant clamps integrated in the structure. The adapted design of the microreactor will be manufactured and tested preliminarily.
Design and model of CPV receiver (si apre in una nuova finestra)This deliverable will give the specifications of each individual component of a high efficiency dense array CPV receiver and the goals in terms of electrical outputs characteristics. The deliverable will propose a design compatible with the TCVC cells, the adaptive cooling plate, the electrical interconnection scheme and the fabrication methodsavailable at the partners’ facilities.A simple transient model for electricity production will be setup and exposed here.
H2 receiver sub-unit demonstration and test report (si apre in una nuova finestra)To experimentally evaluate the proposed design, a sub-unit of 4 microreactors (4x4 cm2) will be fabricated and tested. Individual reactor flow (and therefore temperature control) will be assessed. A test report will be generated.
The actual deliverable is the publicly available workshop. A brief report will be submitted that summarises the organizaton and development of a one-day workshop, six-months before the end of the project, to present the SOLARX results to industry. A citizen forum will be organised simultaneously
