First NAVIGATOR Forecasting Report

This deliverable will provide an Open Access Forecasting Report on scientifically informed future visions of the place of the EU in the emerging global governance structures.

Working paper on institutional landscape of global security governance

This deliverable will cover key developments in global security, with a particular focus on the roles and multilateral dynamics among greater powers (China, Russia, the US, the EU) within the UN security framework.

Working paper on institutional landscape of global digitalisation governance

This deliverable will map and examine current venues and processes shaping digital and cybersecurity governance, including how the distributed nature of digital governance creates new forms of public-private hybrid governance. The deliverable will consider the distinct technopolitical zones of China and the USA, alongside the significant degree of corporate power within the US-led digital sphere, and focus on how the distributed nature of digital governance creates new forms of public-private hybrid governance.

Working paper on the global governance in transition

This deliverable will present the conceptual and analytical framework of the project, and will detail variation in global governance arrangements and mechanisms, identify key trends in geopolitics and multilateral cooperation, and refine the propositions for how these trends impact the EU and Member States’ influence in different policy domains.

Working paper on institutional landscape of global migration governance

This deliverable will cover the key developments in global migration, with a particular focus on the role and impact of North-South dynamics, and the role and impact of China, Russia and the US on multilateral cooperation in global migration.

Working paper on institutional landscape of global health governance

This deliverable will map the formal and informal governance arrangements underpinning global cooperation on health issues. This exercise will examine (a) decision-making structures, (b) financial contribution, and (c) leadership positions of European countries in organizations, treaties, informal institutions, and leading initiatives, with a focus on the identified case studies.

This deliverable will provide a plan for dissemination and exploitation with six pathways to achieve the intended academic and policy impact.

Working paper on the NAVIGATOR methodology

This deliverable will detail the multi-method approach developed for the NAVIGATOR project combining inductive and deductive research strategies into an abductive process, using both small-N and large-N methods. A draft version of the working paper will be used during the joint methodology training session taking place in month 4, and input received in the workshop will be fed into the final version of the working paper (m6). The methodology workshop and the working paper will ensure that all project participants are trained in the methodology ensuring comparable results across the substantive WPs.

Working paper on institutional landscape of global finance and tax governance

This deliverable will map the institutional landscape on finance and tax paying special attention to multilateral actors and the overlapping private and hybrid governance networks. Within this broader exercise, the deliverable will include specific maps of the governance of three key issues: green finance and the role of central banks; cross-border flows; SWIFT payment system; and corporate tax. Further, the deliverable will identify the key ways in which the EU and its institutions operate in these governance frameworks.

Working paper on mapping the hybrid climate governance arena and key multilateral institutions

This deliverable will map the complex multilateral governance domain of climate change, the politics of energy transitions and the impact of global security considerations on climate change governance.

Working paper on regional perspectives

This deliverable will utilize survey data and other inputs to provide perspectives on shifting geopolitical factors and powers such as China, India, Russia, and the United States, and also offer assessment of the evolving role of key regional institutions such as Mercosur, ASEAN, and the African Union.
