Vessel Advanced Clustered and Coordinated Energy Storage Systems

Risultati finali

Preliminary assessment of ESS (si apre in una nuova finestra)

The deliverable will present results summarizing the activities in the task 1and will provide a preliminary assessment of the potential benefits of combined storage systems for selected use cases especially in terms of lifetime for the components, energy efficiency and lower emissions . The results will be based on numerical simulations only and will account for realistic operating conditions for the vessels in terms of routes, load cycles, weather. However, the electrical model will be simplified (e.g. no electromagnetic transients) and practical considerations on placement on the ship or regulatory aspects will not be accounted. Results are supposed to define the relevant scenarios to further analyse in the project.

Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication Plan, IPR management - update (si apre in una nuova finestra)

Updated version of the deliverable submitted at M6. The list of IP generated will be updated and the industrial business plan reviewed.

Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication Plan, IPR management (si apre in una nuova finestra)

The report details the Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication Plan, the management of IPR developed during the project. The deliverable will include the criteria to decide the ownership of the IP and the use by the project partners. Also the industrial business plan will be outlined.

Review of the storage technologies (si apre in una nuova finestra)

The report contains a detailed review of the available energy storage technologies and relevant marine applications. The analysis will include a comparative analysis between energy storage and their suitability for the marine application. The report will also describe the criteria for the selection of appropriate case studies to be analysed in more depth and will include a detailed description of at least two case studied of interest for the project.

Design tools including power systems models, chosen architectures, protection systems and converters models and simulation procedures (si apre in una nuova finestra)

The deliverable will present the design guidelines to define a DC shipboard power system on which test the innovative ESSs. As the test is case depending, thus important efforts will be spent in defining system architecture, as well as protections and power converters (DC-DC or AC-DC). A convenient procedure will be adopted to simulate the designed grid.

LCA methodology and assessment for on board ESS (si apre in una nuova finestra)

LCA methodology for on board energy storage systems. The deliverable presents the methodological elements for carrying out the LCA of the identified energy storage solutions, based on a literature review.

Design tools including power systems models, chosen architectures, protection systems and converters models and simulation procedures - update (si apre in una nuova finestra)

Updated version of the deliverable submitted at M6 with added description on the protection systems needed in the vessel's microgrid.

Data management plan (si apre in una nuova finestra)

A report containing the detailed plan to handle the existing data and the new data generated during the life of the project. The plan will describe how data will be accessible by third parties to respect the open science commitment described in the action.
