This report describes the activities carried out during the first 18 months of the UNCHAIN project, which has a total duration of 42 months. The activities are presented focusing on the overall project objectives and the main deadlines foreseen for this first period (due dates of MileStones -MS- and Deliverables -D).
In particular, in WP2, which started in M1 and finished in M12, the different local ecosystems and the existing SUMPs and SULPs were analysed as well as the public and private needs identified to better understand the problems of the urban distribution from the different perspectives. In addition, a final list of 41 KPIs, grouped into 4, were identified and refined from previous projects and regulations. Moreover, the requirements of the different services were defined in a collaborative manner by all the consortium partners and the initial usage scenarios in which the services implemented in WP4 and WP5 will be tested at each pilot site in WP6. As outcomes of WP2, 3 deliverables were submitted on time: D2.1 D2.2 & D2.3 and 2 milestones achieved: MS2 - Local frameworks and user needs and MS3 - KPIs, requirements and use cases.
Another WP that was already finished during this 1st period is WP3. It plays a central role since the work done consisted in developing from scratch a data space for UNCHAIN where the data are shared by all the stakeholders in a trustful and reliable way. The data space was developed on the basis of the IDSA architecture, and the connectors were stablished following Fraunhofer recommendations and maintained by sovity. To make sure the data space worked properly during the demonstrations in WP6, it was validated before getting the final version.AS outcomes for WP3, 3 deliverables were submitted on time: D3.1 D3.2 & D3.3 and 1 milestone achieved: MS4 - Data-driven cooperation framework.
WP4 and WP5, both linked with the development of the 12 innovative services, are still ongoing. These WPs started in M7 and M9 respectively and will last up to M24. All the services are progressing well and some of them have already developed a first preliminary version pending to be refined with the final inputs the developers receive from the cities.
WP6 is still on its 2nd month of progress, so no big results are still in it. Up to M18, specific meetings were organized to define the timeline of the different tasks. In addition, cities are working on refining the datasets and the location of the pilots.
Concerning the ongoing WP linked to the business innovation and go-to-market strategies, WP7, the main work carried out in this 1st period was related to illustrate the market framework comprehensively. To do so, various analysis techniques (PESTEL analysis, Porter’s Five Forces analysis, SWOT analysis, Value Creation Ecosystem analysis, and Co-benefits and External Costs analysis) are being used. The strategy for the exploitable services tested within the UNCHAIN pilots, has been addressed through the elaboration of business model canvases. D7.1 was submitted on time in this WP7.
In parallel other horizontal activities have been performed to ensure the correct overall management of the project (D1.1 D1.2 D1.3 and MS1). The visual identity and the project website were created (D8.1) a thorough planning of the communication and dissemination efforts along the entire project lifetime (D8.2 and D8.3) has been issued to consolidate UNCHAIN presence in the European logistic cluster. Partners have been actively involved in promoting project investigation by participating in relevant European events and publishing publications.
