Report on the agrochemical products regulatory framework and market uptake potential barriers (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This deliverable will include an analysis of the legal framework regulating the use and safety characteristics of the proposed agrochemical solutions; controlled delivery fertilisers and precision plant nematicides, and a list of the market authorisation needed for the post-project commercialization of the results of the project. The EU Regulation no. 1107 from the 21 October 2009 regulates the registration of new Plant Protection Products (PPP) within the European Community. For registering a new PPP, that consists on a new active ingredient, never used for this specific or other purposes, and on a new formulation, it needs to accomplish two registration steps: new active ingredient inclusion and new formulation registration. The authorization process from authorities needs to evaluate several aspects related to the new candidate: ecotoxicology studies, residue studies, operator and non-target organism studies, field efficacy studies, application label definition. The main principle is that the PPP should be effective and safe to human, environment, and other non-target beings at its lowest effective application rate. The European market is developing towards more sustainable and green PPP solutions. The average growth of PPP market is from 8-10% CAGR. The main drivers of this change are: Farm to Fork proposal strategy which implies the reduction of 50% of conventional PPP usage and increase of total Organic Farming land. Positive lists from food retailers and customers demand for low or no residues on final edible products also contribute to this trend.

Summary of the management procedures and success points.

First version of the Stakeholder engagement plan and stakeholder database (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This involves identifying relevant stakeholders in industry, policy, research and civil society through consortium contacts and a review of wider literature, and through invitations to register with the AGRO4AGRO community via the website. These individuals will be engaged during the course of AGRO4AGRI through customised activities, such as online and physical meetings and 1:1 discussions. The purpose is to gain stakeholder input to planned activities – including D8.4 and D8.5, and share project results, so that these are aligned with stakeholder expectations. All stakeholder information will be captured in a GDPR-compliant database. The final deliverable will summarise these activities, with individual publications included in appendices.

Scientific SSbD evaluation for material and production processes (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This deliverable includes an evaluation of the materials and production processes related to the new agrochemical solutions. Each step of the proposed novel formulations will be mapped and evaluated up against the guiding design principles mentioned by the Commission e.g., Minimise the use of hazardous chemicals or materials, Design for energy efficiency and end of life.

Website of the project (öffnet in neuem Fenster)
