Zukünftige Führungskräfte in der Neurotherapie befähigen
Erkrankungen des Gehirns sind ein großes Problem für das europäische Gesundheitswesen: Millionen Menschen sind betroffen und die Ressourcen belastet. Die aktuellen Behandlungen sind nicht auf die Bedürfnisse einzelner Betroffener ausgerichtet und die Behandlungsergebnisse somit suboptimal. Daher sind in dieser Krise dringend innovative und sicherere Ansätze notwendig. Finanziert über die Marie-Skłodowska-Curie-Maßnahmen wurde das Projekt NeuroAdapt ins Leben gerufen. Unter Leitung des Royal College of Surgeons in Irland wird über NeuroAdapt die nächste Generation an führenden Forschenden mit Kernkompetenzen ausgestattet. Als führendes Zentrum der Science Foundation Ireland werden bei FutureNeuro Neurodiagnostik und Therapeutik mit der nationalen digitalen Gesundheitsinfrastruktur verknüpft. Die Teilnehmenden erhalten praktische Forschungserfahrung, können Praktika in der Industrie absolvieren und an Workshops teilnehmen. So wird die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Diagnostik, Therapeutik und digitaler Gesundheit für eine bessere Patientenversorgung gestärkt.
Ziel
The overall objective of NeuroAdapt, led by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, is to train and there by equip the next generation of researcher leaders with the scientific and transferable skills to catalyse their careers, both in academia or beyond, and develop much needed innovative, safer, and more effective therapeutic approaches to brain diseases, one of the most pressing challenges in European healthcare, tailored specifically towards individual patient needs. Fellows will work within FutureNeuro, a world-leading Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Centre, bringing together Ireland’s leading researchers in the field of neurodiagnostics, neurotherapeutics and digital health. In an internationally unique manner, FutureNeuro links innovative neurodiagnostics and neurotherapeutics development with a national digital health infrastructure and a nationwide clinical network. NeuroAdapt will build on the excellent research environment and expertise of the FutureNeuro centre, providing a fertile training ground for the Fellows. Researcher training will include a unique combination of “hands-on” research training, placements in industry and hospital settings and courses and workshops on scientific, industry-related and transferable skills facilitated by the academic and non-academic composition. Importantly, with its strong focus on industry-related diagnostics and drug discovery programs, NeuroAdapt will facilitate the implementation of novel discoveries into clinical use. Adhering to the COFUND principle of ‘individual-driven mobility’, NeuroAdapt applicants will freely choose, according to their individual needs, from a wide range of research fields, host organisations, supervisors and secondment organisations. NeuroAdapt Fellows will work in highly interdisciplinary projects, sharing expertise and adding value across the neuroscience research landscape. Proposals can be submitted around the three themes of diagnostics, therapeutics and digital health.
