Project description
Empowering stakeholders for a more sustainable future
The carbon footprint from industrial activities is growing. There is an urgent need for accurate and efficient carbon accounting solutions. The EIC-funded TCF - Tanso Total Carbon Footprint project offers revolutionary AI-powered automated carbon accounting software, empowering industrial companies to precisely calculate and report their carbon emissions. It leverages primary data and a vast 13k emission factor database, alongside a comprehensive supply chain model of industrial averages. The project’s data foundation breaks down corporate emissions to the product level. It boasts a user-centric statistical allocation model, creating interpretable digital twins of production processes and accurately allocating emissions per product line. The project’s ultimate goal is to deliver standard-compliant Product Carbon Footprint, or PCF, estimations at scale.
Objective
To date, we have developed Tanso, an AI-powered automated carbon accounting software that enables industrial companies to calculate and report their carbon emissions accurately and efficiently. Our ISO14064 and GHG Protocol compatible CCF calculation uses available primary data mapped with our 13k emission factor database, completing it through a supply chain model of industrial averages.
We have a unique data foundation to break down corporate emissions onto product level and have developed a user-centric statistical allocation model where users can set up an interpretable digital twin of production processes and allocate the right emissions per product line. Our goal is to achieve standard-compliant PCF estimations at scale. Through the probabilistic approach, we provide transparency on data quality, incentivizing companies to improve primary data sources and initiate effective carbon reduction initiatives, and providing reliable information to stakeholders.
