Final Report Summary - CONSERVREGCIRCUITRY (Conservation and Divergence of Tissue-Specific Transcriptional Regulation)
This ERC Starting Grant funded the initial development of comparative regulatory genomics as a new method to analyse how genetic variation between different vertebrate genomes can create the same, highly conserved cell-types. We have applied this understanding to provide insight into the mechanisms, function, and origin of the human genome, as well as those of many other mammalian species. This is a completely novel field of study, where only very limited information had existed before.
